| Title: | A Guide To Buying Floor, Desk, and Table Lamps |
| Article: | The amount of light in a room can have a great impact on the comfort and functionality of the room. But there are many times and situations in which you may not want to add a permanent light fixture in your room. In situations like these, mobile lighting such as floor, desk, and table lamps are ideal. Floor lamps are your best choice if you want to put a lot of light into an entire room. Floor lamps can usually be tucked into a small unused space, such as behind a chair or by a table, so they are out of the way. There are many different styles of floor lamps, so make sure you know what kind you need. Some direct the light toward the ceiling so that it illuminates the room without being in anyone eyes. Others have multiple lights that can be individually aimed. Table lamps are for illuminating parts of rooms. These are most often placed on end tables or nightstands so that the user can have light without turning on the overhead light. The great thing about table lamps is that there is a multitude of styles on the market, especially online. Table lamps are small enough that they can be crafted out of materials that might not hold up as a larger piece, and into styles that would be difficult to replicate in a larger fixture. Desk lamps are small lights used for illuminating work-surfaces. One common attribute of desk lamps is that they usually have moving parts so they can be aimed where needed. They usually either have bendable stalks, or hinges so they can swing in or out from the desk. Some desk lamps also come with organizers or things like a magnifying glass built it, so no matter what kind of work you need to illuminate, there is always something to suit you. Lampshades For The Home There are literally thousands, if not tens-of-thousands, of lampshade styles on the market. There are a multitude of materials out there, not to mention colors and sizes. With the number of lamps that are available, and the selection of lampshades, there is really no way that you cant find a combination to please you. Just as lamps come in all shapes and sizes, so do lampshades. There are many different shapes of shades, from tall and sweeping, to short and completely square. The bell shape is probably the most familiar style, and had been adapted into many forms. Other shapes include drum and rectangular, although many styles are blurring the lines between shapes. Try to pick a shape that will compliment the rest of your room. If you have a room with arched doorways and soft curves on all your furniture, tossing a rectangular shade into the middle of it probably isnt the best option. Likewise, if you have a room filled with classic furniture, a funky, modern lampshade might be better saved for a different room. There are also many materials to choose from when picking your lampshade. Common cloth shades are always popular, but you can also be really unique with a silk or paper shade. If it strikes your fancy, you could even get a shade with sequins or feathers! Try to picture many different colors and textures on your lamps. Go online and find some shades that kindle your imagination and picture them in your home. There are lots of places online to search for lampshades. You can find just the right shade for that special lamp you have, or you can shop for both at the same time. Dont be afraid to get creative and inject some flair into your decorating with an unusual lampshade either! Run with what you like, and youre bound to be satisfied with the results.
