Alan Jackson Tickets – Having a ‘Good Time’ With CMT Special

Article:Nashville star Alan Jackson has been a key figure in the contemporary country music industry for the past few decades as the standout guitarist, vocalist and songwriter has garnered 16 trophies from the Country Music Association, 15 from the Academy of Country Music and is rounding 50 Top 10 hits over the course of his monumental music career. This year has been an absolute milestone for Jackson, who was recently recognized for selling 50 million copies of his hit albums, and now Nashville is smearing the icing on Jackson’s celebratory cake by recognizing him as a CMT Giant, airing a 90-minute television special exclusively about the artist.

Country Music Television’s “CMT Giants: Alan Jackson” is set to air this weekend, and the program features George Strait, Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley, Martina McBride and other country music artists singing Jackson’s songs and praises while providing interviews to honor the great Alan Jackson, with other public figures such as Hank Williams Jr., George Jones, Diane Sawyer, Carrie Underwood and President George W. Bush in the wings. Jackson was honored as a CMT Giant in October at Ryman Auditorium, becoming the third country music artist of all time to receive the achievement award (behind Hank Williams Jr. and Reba McEntire).

Following closely behind his newest smash singles “Good Time” and “Small Town Southern Man,” this CMT honor is continuing to pass the torch of success for Jackson right on through the rest of the 2000s, making Alan Jackson one of the most celebrated names to ever grace the Nashville scene. Taking a glance at the exquisite singer’s repertoire, however, it’s obvious the country music star has come a long way from his first charting hit, the single “Blue Blooded Woman.” The year was 1989 and Jackson, the Newnan, Georgia native, had worked his way out of various odd jobs such as car salesman and fork lift operator to concentrate on his music, making the rounds in Nashville and finally squeezing his way into the studios at Arista’s new country division. “Blue Blooded Woman” led Jackson’s debut album Here in the Real World by the hand, and soon thereafter the blonde-headed, moustache-faced freewheeling musician had landed his first Top Five hit with “Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow.”

After the smoke was cleared from “Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow,” Alan Jackson sped off into the musical oblivion, flying through the rest of the ‘90s with smash singles and albums, earning a name among Nashville’s brightest stars such as Hank Williams, Randy Travis and Garth Brooks. Energetic anthems like “Summertime Blues,” “I Don’t Even Know Your Name” and the all-time honky-tonk favorite “Gone Country” propelled the Alan Jackson train through the mid-to-late-‘90s, and all sorts of fans jumped on his bandwagon after the vocalist released his 1999 covers album Under the Influence that paid tribute to some of traditional country music heavyweights such as Merle Haggard, Charley Pride, Hank Williams, Jr. and Don Williams. In 2001, Jackson recorded a heartfelt tribute to post-9/11 America with the single “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning),” and since then the fun-loving vocalist has continued rocking American music spanning multiple genres with songs like “Drive (For Daddy Gene)” and the Jimmy Buffett duet “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere.”

Currently having a “G with an O, O with a D, T with an I and an M and an E” with his newest single “Good Time,” Alan Jackson has been spending as much time on the road lately as he has on the Billboard charts.
