| Title: | Cheap Costing Flyers Need Not Be Cheap Looking |
| Article: | The use of promotional materials for companies of all sizes can have a considerable effect on their business, resulting directly on their turnover. However, the effect may not necessarily be a positive one and if the promotional material is poorly designed or developed, then the company can suffer significantly, which can, for some companies, be so detrimental that they may never recover. One of the most common myths that revolves in the business world is that promotional materials of any form need to cost a large sum of money for them to be as effective as they can possibly be. Although a large marketing budget will always give the business a wider choice in terms of the options available to them at all points throughout the material creation process, it is possible to create effective and for instance, cheap flyers, that are just as effective as their more expensive counterparts. The results that are received from any promotional material lay heavily with how well it was designed and when it comes to creating a material, a business has two options available to them. They can either pay for a company to carry out the entire process (or part of it) for them, or create the item themselves. Whilst most design companies will have sufficient experience when it comes to creating promotional materials and can ensure that cheap flyers or poor looking leaflets are never produced, if developing the materials at home or in-house, there are several points that need to be considered, fully understood and adhered to. For example, the reason why materials are so often created in-house is to reduce costs, but there should always be a budget of some sort available to utilize, as apart from the fact that it is extremely difficult to create an effective promotional material, it can take a substantial amount of time if experience is not held. Therefore, if it can be afforded, some part of the work, whether designing, printing or distributing, should be outsourced to a qualified, professional and reputable company. It can take a long time to fully understand design requirements for all types of promotional and advertising materials, but in general, the design should be clean, uncluttered and recognizable to the company. For instance, in regards to the latter, a person should be able to pick up a flyer, look at it and within a few seconds be able to understand which company it is from and what the product or item is that is being advertised. Overall, it has to be remembered that price is not everything when it comes to creating fantastic and effective promotional materials. A substantial budget can help the process considerably, but even the most expensive materials can look cheap and be completely ineffective. The experience and knowledge of any designer is paramount to how well a marketing material is going to look and be received and therefore it is strongly recommended to research the history and past work of any designer, as the most expensive may not necessarily be the best.
