To do so, you will need to apply yourself in every aspect of the duties given to you by the firm. During your schooling, a director of internships will determine what your interests are in the field. When talking with the director, be open about what your interests are and what type of work you would like to do. The director will use this knowledge to find the best match for you. You will then be able to prepare yourself to meet with the personnel of the organization with which you will be interning. If necessary, prepare your resume. Make sure that you highlight any prior experience you have had as well as your educational performance. An interview may be required, or it may at least be a formality. In any case, you will probably have some time to sit down with someone from the organization to discuss both your expectations and their expectations. It is best to be open and to express appreciation for the opportunity to be involved with the organization. Show yourself as a person who is excited for the opportunity with which you are being provided. Once your internship has begun, it will largely be up to you to take advantage of opportunities. While interning, you will have a great opportunity to get an inside look into an organization that is doing work in your chosen field. Perhaps the best advice is to treat your internship as though you were actually an employee of the company. Act as though you have already obtained a position. Make sure that you maintain a certain professional standard. If you exhibit behavior that is unprofessional, the management will probably decide not to offer you a job in the end. Take full advantage of the opportunities that you are given, asking lots of questions along the way. Do your best to learn all that you can, and demonstrate a good work initiative.
