How to Stop Smoking the EFT Way

Article:Are you currently a smoker? Have you been wanting to quit smoking but just cannot find an effective way to help you achieve that? Then, Emotion Freedom Techniques (EFT) is probably just the right method to help you quit smoking once and for all. But, before you find out how EFT can help you quit smoking, let us first learn what EFT is.

EFT is a relatively new concept. It is the brain-child of Stanford engineer, ordained preacher, and Personal Performance Coach Gary Craig. EFT operates by balancing a person’s energy systems. A person’s energy system is stimulated by electrical impulses that stream all throughout the body. EFT asserts that it is when the energy system is imbalanced that negative emotional effects and harmful physical manifestations are felt. The emotional effects include phobias, depression, anger, guilt, and fears while the physical manifestations include chronic pain, headaches, asthma, and tension. EFT relieves all these by tapping on points corresponding to acupuncture points on the energy meridian. It’s sound suspiciously unusual but the method has proven to be highly effective. It gives relief even in areas where other methods have failed. In fact, it has a higher than usual success rate of 80%. Its results are long-lasting and it presents mostly positive side effects. For these and many other reasons, EFT is currently being dubbed a modern miracle.

Now, how can EFT help you quit smoking? EFT is the fastest and successful way you can employ to help you finally stop smoking as it works directly with doubts, obstacles, cravings, and emotions that almost all people who are trying to quit smoking have to contend with. It makes the shift from being a smoker to a non-smoker more effortless and prepares new non-smokers to handle high-stress circumstances that just may instigate them to a relapse.

Here are the basic EFT steps to stop smoking:

1. Jot down each and every doubt, trigger, emotion, obstacle, and concern you may have that relates to your getting off cigarettes. An example is “I doubt that I will ever be able to quit smoking”.

2. Assess the intensity level of each issue that arises on a scale of 1 to 10, ten being the most intense.

3. Arrange the affirmation and reminder clause beginning with the most intense issue. For example of an affirmation is, “Even though I doubt that I will ever be able to quit smoking, I sincerely and wholly accept myself just the way I am”. A reminder clause will be “My doubts about smoking”.

4. Tap lightly on appropriate meridian points on one side of your body using the index and middle finger of a hand, while saying the affirmation and reminder clause.

The points can include the eye brow area, the eye area, under the nose, middle of the chin, under the collarbone, under the armpit, and on the top of the head.

5. Breathe deeply and then reassess the intensity level of the particular issue using the scale of 1 to 10. Do the tapping routine again, until such time that the intensity level of the issue is 3 or below.

6. Work on the next issue starting with step 2.

7. As soon as you have reduced the intensity level of each issue to 3 at the most, you are definitely ready to stop smoking.

8. Do these EFT steps at least three times a day especially for the first few weeks to handle any issue or emotion that may arise.

Some people may feel healing after a short process, while others may need to repeat the routine a particular number of times in a specific period. Nevertheless, it is a certainty that, soon enough, you will definitely be a genuine non-smoker.
