| Title: | Personal Trainer Aids in Effective Excising |
| Article: | A personal trainer can be hired by anyone who wants to stay physically fit. It is now recognized that a correct method of exercising helps build muscles all over the body. The method of training is decided depending upon the physical condition of the person and is done in a phased manner. It is stepped up to a higher level, as the body gets used to the new regimen. Normally seven different types of exercise are recommended, but these can vary depending on the equipment available in the Gymnasium and what the instructor is trying to achieve. The advantage of doing multiple exercises is that, it prevents strain or injury when one does an unusual or strenuous physical activity. Normally the first exercise that the personal trainer would suggest is walking. This can be done anywhere, and also helps warm up the body for the exercises to follow. In a gymnasium, use of a treadmill is common. Starting with 10 minutes, this exercise would be increased over a period of time, eventually bringing it close to 30 minutes. To ensure that there is no slackening, and to raise the effort level, the walking speed and the incline can be increased on the treadmill. The trainer may also recommend intermittent jogging. From this activity, the personal trainer will probably take one to the next exercise. This could be squats. This helps strengthen multiple muscle groups which include quadriceps, hamstrings and glueteals. Done by keeping the feet apart approximately about shoulder width, and with the back straight, the knees are first bent and then the rear as if one were sitting in a chair. Care should be taken that the knees do not move sideways and that during the entire exercise the knees are directly above the ankles. If case one finds this difficult, squats are best done by using a chair which can be removed as one gets familiar with the procedure. The personal trainer may next suggest lunges. This exercise helps improve balance. Done by taking a big step forward, keeping the spine straight, and bending the right knee to approximately 90 degrees, the weight is kept on the back toes, and dropping the back knee towards the floor without actually touching it. A variation of this can be done by stepping backwards or even sideward. Push-ups strengthen the shoulder, chest, triceps and core muscles. One’s personal trainer will advise it to be done with face downward and hands placed apart a little wider than the shoulders. The legs are supported by the toes with the knees off the floor. The body is lowered and lifted by bending and straightening the elbows. To make the push-ups more strenuous, the feet are placed on a staircase or bench. Abdominal crunch exercises are done by lying flat on ones back with the feet flat on the floor and palms supporting the head. Pressing the lower back down, the head, shoulder and upper back is lifted off the floor and eased back. This exercise can also be done by lifting the legs and then raising the head and shoulders. While doing these exercises the elbows are kept out of the line of vision. The personal trainer may also recommend the bent-over row exercise. For this exercise, the feet are kept apart similar to the width of the shoulders, knees bent and flexing forward at the hips while the hands, holding weights are lifted and then lowered slowly towards the side of the body. It is recommended that beginners initially start without using weights, and then later introduce it.
