Sash Window Benefits

Article:Until I moved out of my parents and moved into my own house I never realised how many things needed to be considered when moving. Of course when I moved into my new home I wanted to make it my own and stamp my own mark on the property. I have always wanted to live in the big city so I was over the moon when I got my new pad. What I liked about the house was its exterior, especially the sash windows. Although most houses in these parts look the same it isn’t actually the case when you look closer. The scene set in the street is almost like an old movie set in the olden days.

The sash windows are a key feature to any property and I wanted to keep this specific look for my home. Nowadays people tend to make alterations to them and it loses their authenticity. With maintaining these windows I knew if I ever wanted to sell my house then mine would have an edge to some other properties on the market - mine is traditional and it oozes character. Not that I want to go though the whole commotion of moving in a hurry – not for a long time! But it is always good to know that these windows may add value to your home.

Any added features will add benefits to your home and I am a firm believer in keeping the house, if possible as much to its original state. Not only do I have sash windows but I still have a lovely old fireplace and high ceilings which all add to the character of my home.

The house next door has some ill fitted and poor quality frames for their windows. At one point they must have decided to replace their windows and it is a real shame. The difference between my windows and theirs is exceptional. I assume these frames would have been cheap in cost but this really does reflect in the overall quality.

I will need to vamp mine up soon and I intend to use a company who specialise in these windows. The neighbour on my other side recently got theirs done and they do look fabulous and they have certainly kept the character of their original manner. I will ask them for a recommendation as I am adamant I keep the exterior looking conventional. After all the outside of your home is what everyone sees first so I want to give everyone an excellent impression.

Anyone who is not sure about what sash windows look like, well you only have to walk down the streets of a city like London to see them. Although we often see them on houses that originated 2-300 years ago people are still keen to maintain and renovate them. I am happy that we are still able to keep hold of old tradition and the charm of our houses, and my sash windows certainly keep in with that.
