The Possibilities of Cell Phone Marketing

Article:Technology has transformed the world. We are now dependent on computers for many things, whether it be driving to and from work to the most basic entertainment.

Communication is also dependent on computers. Today many people feel that a cell phone is necessary for daily life.

Without a cell phone many people feel out of the loop or like they are missing an essential part of their body, such as a finger. People who have mobile addiction start to act irrational when missing their cell phone.

They may also develop a habit of running up huge phone bills that many will have difficulty paying as they are a low income budget. Technology addicts use the phone so much, that it begins to affect every aspect of their lives.

This phenomenon of addiction leaves people reliant on their cell phones to talk to family, friends, co-workers, and for using social media. Just a few of the many things cell phones are used for include talking, texting, photographing, Internet access, and emailing.

Cell phone addiction has left a burgeoning sales market that has not yet been tapped into. The use of cell phones even out runs the use of the Internet.

There are about 4.5 billion users around the world and only 1.5 billion Internet users worldwide. This shows the potential of cell phone marketing.

Recently, many websites have been modified to be marketed to a cell phone. The results have not yet been seen, but the fact that so many people are trying to reach the mobile phones shows the potential.

A mobile search program has even been implemented by Google. Like with every new way of marketing, new techniques will be needed for marketing to be successful on a cell phone.

When the Internet became a prime field for marketing it basically became a level playing field for all businesses. Today, if a company wants to keep its customer, it must provide a quality online experience.

Businesses of the modern times have absolutely no choice but to use technology or be left behind. Cell phones are the next target technology for marketing.

A person who is using a cell phone is generally an on-the-go type of person. They do not have time for long conversations or time consuming searching on the Internet.

If they want to spend time searching they will use their laptop computer when they get home. The marketing message will have to be quick and to the point.

Mobile marketing will also have to take a different form than what is found on the Internet. Websites look completely different on a cell phone in comparison to what it looks like on a computer.

This new form of marketing is just beginning to show results and the market will grow tremendously in the future. Especially as cell phones become more advanced and become better tools for surfing the web.

However, telemarketing on cell phones is still generally illegal. FCC regulations restrict telemarketers from using pre-recorded messages and automated dialers to contact cell phones.

Telemarketers rely on automated dialers, so as a result very few will bother calling cell phone numbers. The exception to this rule is if you give you consent to a telemarketer via email or another medium to call your number.

This trend is not likely to continue though. Cell phones are just too big of a potential market to ignore.

Not only are there more cell phones than land lines, but home phones are answered by a variety of people. Meanwhile, cell phones are answered by just one person.

Once it is discovered who that person is, targeted telemarketer calls can be made. From a marketing perspective, this will make telemarketer calls much more effective.

If telemarketer calls irritate someone too much, they can add their cell phone or land line numbers to the National Do Not Call Registry. The numbers will then stay on the list for five years.
