| Title: | The Secret To Getting Better At Dancing Salsa |
| Article: | So you've taken those salsa dance lessons for a while but it seems like you're not getting any better, right? So what's the secret magic formula to get really good at dancing salsa. You've seen the rock star salsa dancers at the salsa parties ripping up the dance floor and your asking yourself what is their secret? DANCE! DANCE! DANCE! That's the secret! If you don't go out and dance and use what you've learned, you'll never get better. Go out there and dance, dance, dance! FIND A SALSA BUDDY AND GROW TOGETHER Now if your not the type of person who will just go to the salsa party by yourself, it is always a good idea to bring a partner or a friend. One of the best ways to meet some one who can be your salsa buddy is through classes. Come early so you have time to mingle with the students. Ask other students to practice with you during the breaks so that you can start to get to know them. Your fellow students will make good buddies to go out with because they are on the same level as you and are eager to learn the dance also. MEET OTHER DANCERS AT THE CLUBS It's good to have variety. Each person has a different style and dances differently. If you dance with one person all the time, all you are doing is learning how to dance with just that one person. If you go to a afterwork salsa party, I want you to watch the other dancers in the club. You'll discover that there are other dancers who are dancing at the same level that you are. Go and ask these people to dance. They will be happy to find someone to practice with. Keep in mind that they are probably just as worried about not being able to keep up with the better dancers so it'll be a relief for them to meet some one at their level too. APPLY WHAT YOU LEARN IN CLASS Your probably thinking I'll be ready to dance after just a few more lessons. Truth is, you really only need one lesson before your ready to go out to a salsa club. The QUICKEST way to learn is to take lessons and apply what your learning on a weekly basis by going out and dancing with different people. You will discover from actual experience the areas that you need to improve. This will also help focus your mind on specific areas of improvement, which may lead you to do the following, DITCH THE GROUP AND GO FOR THE PRIVATE LESSONS Eventually, you will reach a plateau with group lessons and you will want to break through those sticking points that have been holding you back. You may come to realize that your fundamentals might need brushing up because group lessons do not give you the individualized attention that you need. To get to the next level, you should consider taking private lessons. If you feel like your spins or styling aren't up to par, do what's necessary and get the one on one instruction to work out the kinks. You'll go a long way fast!
