What Kind of Conditioner Should You Use for Your Hair?

Article:It can be confusing trying to find a conditioner for hair that will do exactly as it promises, whether it is supposed to reverse damage, tame frizzies, or thicken hair. There are many things that can be done to find the best hair care products for your particular hair type, and there are also ways to make sure that you dont waste a lot of time and money on products that just dont deliver. Even though there is no miracle cure available at this point to magically transform hair, there are many products that seem to perform better than others. Half of the battle is using the right type of conditioner.

It is a common misconception that oily hair cannot be damaged. Many people seem to think that when hair is oily it is too healthy but this is far from the truth. The oily appearance of hair is only a result of excess natural oil that sits on the outside of the hair strands, or the shaft. It has nothing to do with the actual internal integrity of the hair. There are conditioners that are designed specifically to not contribute to the oiliness that will still nourish the hair with vitamins and nutrients that it needs. The products that people with oily hair should purchase are those that have a transparent or see through look to them. Products that have a creamy, thick consistency should be avoided. The worst thing that someone with oily hair could do would be to use products that are designed for dry hair.

Those of us with dry, damaged hair need to avoid those transparent conditioners and instead need to go with the thick, creamy ones. The transparent hair conditioner is meant to strip away oil, and someone that has dry hair certainly does not need less oil. There are many different dimensions that include damaged hair, including curly, over processed, chemically treated, brittle, permed, straightened, and others as well. What makes everything even more confusing is the fact that many products are also made for combination hair types. There are many women that have brittle hair that is oily, or dry hair that is color treated. The effectiveness of these products just depends on which ones the user achieves the best results with.

Hair conditioner that contains essential oils and proteins seem to have the best results for a lot of people. These essential oils include jojoba oil, Shea butter, and others. These ingredients can be found not only in conditioners but also in many weekly and specialty hair treatments as well. Amino acids are other important ingredients to the health of all types of hair. Try to avoid ingredients such as SD Alcohol 40, types of formaldehyde, and (this one may be tough) but try to stay away from products that have fragrance listed as an ingredient. Fragrance is nothing but a blanket term that is used in shampoo, conditioner, treatments, hair spray, and other products and all it means is that there are about 4,000 chemicals in that product to make it smell good.
