Similarly, if you go into that same chat box without saying a word, and later cuss your opponent out because they are beating you, then you are contributing a negative influence into their world. You may not be sitting face-to-face with that opponent in the real world, but you can affect their mood and how they feel just the same. This is why the online gaming world is considered a community. You can choose to be a positive or negative factor to the others you cross in this community. If you have never thought of it in that manner before, now is the time to give it some thought. The online gaming community is real, and you are a real part of it. Manners in the Community Make sure you are a positive influence in this virtual community. You can play online games without saying discouraging words to others or behaving in a childish way when someone gets the upper hand in a game. If you would not do or say something in front of your boss at work, then you should probably not do it while playing online games. After all, the person you do it to could very well be your boss!
