| Title: | You Are Not Losing Weight Doing That Exercise |
| Article: | When it comes to losing weight, it can be difficult separating fact from fiction. Some of the most popular weight loss myths keep people in a rut, practicing the same habits or mistakenly believing that the same actions will promise certain results when they simply do not. Knowing what is fact from fiction will help make certain that you derive the most benefits from your workout. Here is a closer look at some of the most popular weight loss myths and the truth behind the fiction. 1.The More you Sweat, The More Calories Burned Many people have heard this myth most of their lives. They believe that if they sweat more, or perform a short but very intense workout that causes them to sweat heavily, they will burn more calories and lose more weight than if they exercised at a steady pace. The truth is that it is not the amount of sweat you produce, but the time or duration of your workout that determines how many calories you will burn. A steady paced workout that lasts between thirty to forty minutes not only burns more calories than a short session that causes you to break a sweat, but it also increases your metabolism. This helps you lose weight after your workout is finished. Even though it is true that intense workouts that cause your heart rate to increase and your muscles to become sore burn many calories, exercise that promotes endurance burns more calories because of the increased metabolism after you are through working out. 2.You Burn More Calories Lifting Heavy Weights Lifting heavy weights might burn more calories at the onset of the workout, but since you can not continue lifting heavy weights for a long period of time, you won’t burn more calories when compared to other workouts. The most important factor to consider when working out is the time allotted for the workout. It is better to choose an activity that uses resistance bands or low to moderate weights since these workouts can be performed for a longer duration, than it is to perform short sessions of heavy weight lifting. 3.Not Eating Will Cause My Stomach to Shrink The truth is that your stomach is a muscle and though it will expand to hold large amounts of food, it will not shrink if you skip meals or fast. It is better to eat small portions of healthy foods throughout the day, than to try and shrink your stomach by skipping meals entirely. Once you become accustomed to healthy eating, your appetite will decrease, but your stomach muscle will not shrink. It is important to do exercises correctly. You might not only being doing the exercises wrong but there is a possibility of injuring yourself on some exercises if done wrong. Following the instructions on how to use a certain machine or following along with an exercise DVD is the best way to go. That way you take the guessing out of exercising. You can know with full certainty that you are doing the work outs correctly.
